Notes

The UK pressing has a few interesting anomalies in the track listing as printed on the label of Side 2 - close ups of this can be found in the images as well:

Track 3 reads "The Princess Theme", while it should read "Princess Leia's Theme (From Star Wars)".
Track 4 reads "March Of Jeti Knights", while it should read "Main Theme From Star Wars".

It's unclear how the title of track 4 can be so completely different than what it should be, while at the same time the back cover features the correct track listing.

Also, the cat.nr. at the top right corner on the back cover of the UK pressing reads: SUPER CTI 5005.

Recorded at Electric Lady Studios, June 1977.
Dune is based on the Hugo award-winning novel, Dune, by Frank Herbert.

Doug Payne, who runs an extensive website about all the CTI and KUDU releases from back in the days, explains exactly why the album "Dune" was actually deleted from the CTI catalogue in 1977. On Doug Payne's website, there's an article by Arnaldo DeSouteiro, Brazil’s leading jazz producer and CTI historian, in where he says, quote:

"David Matthews did a second and last album as a leader for CTI, Dune, an artistically successful project who turned out to be a commercial fiasco thanks to the imprudence of CTI’s legal management. Since CTI had not secured writer Frank Herbert’s authorization to use his novel Dune as the thematic center piece for the album, Herbert filed a law suit against CTI and won, forcing the label to delete it from catalog. For this reason, that magnificent album was never reissued in the USA, although a CD reissue came out in Japan by King Records in 1994."
