Notes
Original black label stereo pressing."SD 1289" on labels; "1289" on cover.
Original US mono cover jacket housing the scarcely pressed italian first Stereo edition on a very hard to see black Atlantic "Stereofonic" label, with no disclaimers or so. It was distributed this way, without any distributor indication but a small sticker added on front cover saying: "STEREO - Stereo Rama Sound" on two lines.
One of the very first italian Stereo pressings ever.
Note that the stampers are the same of some very early (or even first) us pressing: see runout etchings.
This album was recorded in its entirety at The Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island on July 5, 1958 by special arrangement with the Directors of The Newport Jazz Festival.
From the rear sleeve: Atlantic Recording Corporation, 157 West 57 Street, New York 19, New York - Printed in U.S.A.
