CHEMBAI VAIDHYANATHA BHAGAVATHAR, popularly known by his Kerala village name "Chembai", comes from a family rich with musical traditions for over 500 years. Beginning with the "Sa Ri Ga Ma" of music from the age of five, he made his travels into the depths of the art escorted by his own father as "Guru".

After a well earned rest and retirement, he has again come out to take fresh laurels and observers and critics are all agreed that he is as great as in his younger days."
