"Dawn Fades Over Ocean" is a variation on themes by the Velvet Underground and Joy Division, "Sister Clean" is a variation on a theme by the The Clean.
"Visions of Emma" later issued as "On The Road I" for the vocal singles compilation 324 E. 13th Street #7.
Winter Songs was recorded on a Tascam Porta One 4-Track cassette recorder at 324 East 13th Street, New York City, between December 1994 and February 1995, using a Teisco six-string electric guitar, microreverb, Digitech time machine, Rat distortion box, and Box digital delay pedal. It was mixed to DAT at Nightshift Studios, Christchurch, August 1996, by Roy Montgomery and Arnie Van Bussel.
